Santie van der Merwe is a registered Tax Practitioner with the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT) and has 25 years’ experience in the financial, administration and management. She started her career at the South African Communication Services, where she was a member of a multi-disciplinary team involved in the introduction of VAT into the South African economy, whereafter she established her career at the Department of Finance. For the next 18 years, she distinguished herself in a key position at a group of 32 companies where she was responsible for the finance, administration and management of projects. In 2012 she was approached by BDO, an international Audit Firm, was appointed as National Tax Practice Manager. With a strong financial background and many years of experience, she assisted the Partners into growing and expanding their business. Being the entrepreneurial person she is, Santie then started Interafrica Advisory assisting Individuals with tax matters and small to medium businesses with start-up their new companies, accounting, tax matters and implementing business strategy into their growing businesses. Santie also holds a BA Communication Science degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
